CUNNINGHAM, Jasper N. - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Jasper Cunningham, Fountain county's largest man and one of its wealthiest, died at his home, two miles south of Wallace last Sunday afternoon of Bright's disease and other complications, aged fifty seven years. Mr. Cunningham was able to be around until three or four days ago, when he was taken to his bed and the decline was rapid to the end. He had been ailing all summer, but spent much time in his big touring car in an effort to regain his health, but to no avail. Deceased was one of the successful farmers of Fountain county, owning at the time of his death, over 700 acres of fine land near Wallace and much other valuable property. He was a very large man-the largest in Fountain county. Prior to his last illness, he weighed over 400 pounds, but at the time of his death, he had fallen off about 100 pounds. At one time, the combined weight of three members of his family was over 1000 pounds. A few years ago he purchased a large touring car that would accommodate himself and family. Notwithstanding his enormous size, he was a very busy man up until a few years ago when an accident deprived him of one of his legs. He was the father of three children, two daughters and one son, who with the widow, survive him. The funeral was held at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning at the Cunningham home and the burial was made in the Wolf Creek cemetery
